During the first stage of park’s construction, there were two ponds – “Pond of the waterfowl” and “Pond of the lotuses” (built by the Austrian Hoffman, in the southwestern part of the park, in 1905-1906).
During the second stage Pond of the waterfowl (swans, black swans, wild ducks) drained.
Prince Ferdinand brings many exotic plants but mostly alpine and water flowers. Special attention is given to the lilies, grown from Hoffman and V. Kraus.
Various types of lilies are planted in the pond, created by the Czech V., which receives the name Pond of the lilies.
Many aquatic plants were supplied by China, Japan and Australia. Because of their rich variety of colors, they were used to decorate lakes and greenhouses.
